Your Guide to Navigating Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW)
Welcome to Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW)! As Poland’s largest and busiest airport, it serves as the primary gateway to the nation’s capital. This guide provides essential, up-to-date information to ensure your journey is smooth and efficient, from arrival to departure.
Understanding the Terminal
Warsaw Chopin Airport operates within a single, modern, and easy-to-navigate building, Terminal A. The previous Terminals 1 and 2 have been fully integrated into this one cohesive space. The terminal is organised into two main halls, the South Hall and the North Hall, which contain five distinct check-in zones labeled A, B, C, D, and E. Clear signage in both Polish and English will guide you effortlessly through the spacious building.
Breeze Through Security with Fast Track
To save time and avoid queues at security, you can take advantage of the Fast Track service. This dedicated lane offers a quicker, more convenient path to the departure lounge. You can purchase a single-use Fast Track ticket online before your trip for 40 PLN or at a self-service kiosk at the airport for 45 PLN. The pass is free for children under 13 traveling with a Fast Track holder and for passengers over 70 years old.
The Fast Track lanes are open for passengers from 3:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. You can find them in two locations: one in Area B and another in Area E, conveniently located next to the main security screening areas.
Travel from the Airport to Warsaw City Centre
Located just 10km from the city center, the airport offers several excellent transport options. The fastest and most recommended way to reach the city is by train. The Szybka Kolej Miejska (SKM) train lines S2 and S3 connect the airport’s station directly to central Warsaw in about 20-25 minutes. To find the station, simply follow the green line marked on the floor of the arrivals hall. This is our preferred method for getting into the centre.
Public buses are another affordable and reliable choice. Bus lines 175 and 188 operate throughout the day, while the N32 line serves the route at night. The journey by bus typically takes around 30-40 minutes depending on traffic.
For a direct, door-to-door service, licensed taxis are readily available. You can find official taxi ranks just outside the arrivals hall. A trip to the city center will take approximately 20-30 minutes and should cost between 40-60 PLN. Always use the official, licensed taxi services to ensure a fair price.
Essential Airport Services
Warsaw Chopin Airport is equipped with a full range of services to make your travel experience comfortable. You can stay connected with the free and unlimited Wi-Fi available throughout the terminal by connecting to the “CHOPIN-AIRPORT” network. Should you need to store your luggage, you will find automated lockers located near the P1 parking garage.
The airport offers a wide selection of dining options, from cafes and fast-food outlets like McDonald’s to restaurants serving local and international cuisine. Several establishments, including Costa Coffee, are open 24/7. You will also find numerous shops, including duty-free stores, fashion boutiques, and convenience stores for any last-minute needs. Other available services include ATMs, currency exchange offices, and a public observation deck for aviation enthusiasts.
