Changi Airport is a premier global aviation hub and is frequently celebrated as one of the best airports in the world. In 2025, the airport reached a record-breaking volume of nearly 70 million passenger movements, securing its position as the fourth busiest international airport globally. Far more than just a transit point, Changi is renowned for its highly efficient operations, seamless passenger experience, and exceptional amenities. The airport serves as a destination in its own right, offering travellers unique attractions such as indoor botanical gardens, free movie theatres, and the famous Jewel complex, a massive lifestyle hub featuring a stunning 40-meter indoor waterfall known as the Rain Vortex.

Jewel is located on the landside, which is the public area of the airport, not in the secure airside transit zone. To visit Jewel during a layover, you must clear arrival immigration, fulfil any visa or SG Arrival Card (SGAC) requirements, and pass through customs. You will also need to go through departure immigration and security screening to return to the secure terminal areas for your onward flight.

Because you must clear immigration, navigate the complex, and reclear security, it is officially recommended to have a minimum transit time of at least 5 hours to comfortably visit and experience Jewel.

If your connecting flights arrive and depart within the same terminal, the standard minimum connection time is generally 50 minutes. If you need to change terminals, you should allow around 60 to 90 minutes. If your flights were booked together on a single ticket (e.g., through Singapore Airlines), the airline will ensure your connection and your baggage will be checked through.

Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are seamlessly connected by a complimentary Skytrain service that operates from 5:00 AM to 2:00 AM, and you can also walk between them using inter-terminal travellators or link bridges. Terminal 4 is not connected by the Skytrain; instead, it is serviced by a complimentary 24-hour shuttle bus. From the transit area, the shuttle from T4 to T2 or T3 takes about 12 minutes, while T4 to T1 takes approximately 19 minutes.

Unlike many global airports (although, more common in Asia), security screening at Terminals 1, 2, and 3 takes place directly at the individual departure gates (we give an overall estimate). This means any bottled water, coffee, or liquid souvenirs purchased in the main airside transit lounge must be consumed or discarded before you clear the security checkpoint at your specific gate. Note that Terminal 4 is an exception and uses a centralised security checkpoint.

While Changi has hundreds of dining options, budget-conscious travellers and foodies frequently seek out the airport Staff Canteens located in the public areas for cheap, authentic Singaporean hawker food. For example, the Terminal 2 staff canteen is accessible to the public but slightly hidden on Level 3M of Carpark 2. There is also a Food Republic food court located in Jewel (Level B2) serving local hawker favourites.

Yes, Changi provides free, designated Snooze Lounges equipped with reclining chairs in the transit areas of all four terminals. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis. For guaranteed privacy and a bed, paid transit hotels like the Aerotel in Terminal 1 (which features an outdoor pool) and the Ambassador Transit Hotel in Terminals 2 and 3 are available airside.

  • MRT (Train): The Changi Airport MRT station is located between Terminals 2 and 3. Take the East West Line to Tanah Merah Station and transfer to a city-bound train. The first train departs around 5:31 AM (Monday to Saturday), and the last train to connect to the city leaves at approximately 11:18 PM.
  • Taxi: Taxis are available 24/7 at the Arrival halls of all terminals. The ride takes about 30 minutes and costs between SGD 25 and SGD 45, metered. Note that an airport surcharge applies (SGD 8 from 5:00 PM to 11:59 PM daily, and SGD 6 at all other times), in addition to standard peak-hour or midnight surcharges.
  • Ride-Hailing (Grab/Gojek): You can book a ride via apps like Grab or Gojek. Follow the signs to the designated Ride-Hailing Pick-up areas located at Terminal 1 (Basement 1), Terminal 2 (Level 1), Terminal 3 (Basement 1), and Terminal 4 (Level 1).
  • Public Bus: Buses such as 36 connect the airport to the city center. Bus bays are located at the basement of Terminals 1, 2, and 3, and near Car Park 4B for Terminal 4. You can pay using contactless bank cards, EZ-Link cards, or exact cash.
  • Airport Shuttle: A 24-hour shuttle bus service is available offering shared transfers to city centre hotels, departing every 15 to 30 minutes.

Live data: For the majority of the airports we track we use live data from the airport. For the remaining airports we provide a modelled projection, combined with crowdsourced data.

Search: By airport name, IATA code, city, county, country or region. To save you time, we keep your last visited airports on the front page. If you can’t find an airport, contact us using the contact form and we will look to add it. 

Current average wait time: The airport’s latest average security, passport control or customs queue wait time. If the airport has multiple queues, we display the average of them. If you want a more granular view that includes wait times for individual queues, take a look at the terminal level wait times. We regularly update each airport’s data,  but make sure you click the “i” icon to check when the last update was made.

Terminal level wait times: The latest security or customs queue wait time for individual terminals. Click on the terminal to access more information at the terminal level. Please note that this data is not available for all airports. We are working to expand this functionality to as many airports as possible.

Historical wait times: The typical wait time on different days and times over the past 2 weeks. Click the filter at the top right of the graph to cycle through the days of the week.

Our sources for wait time data vary and may include air travel data aggregators, federal agencies such as the TSA, CATSA CBP, or information from the airport and its affiliated service providers. For some airports, Qsensor utilises its proprietary queue modelling technology to project wait times. Additionally, we crowdsource data from passengers who have input their wait time using the “Add Your Time” button.

We regularly check queue times and flight delays for accuracy, however all times are estimates and waiting times and delays may not accurately reflect your experience. It is advisable to arrive at the airport well in advance and follow the recommendations of the airlines and airports.

There are a wide array of ways that queue data is measured. Including but not limited to looking at how long a passenger takes to get from scanning their boarding pass to exiting the security or customs area. Auditing passengers on how long it took them to pass through security or customs as well as Qsensors’ proprietary system for user added wait times.
