Navigating Stuttgart Airport (STR) is straightforward as you can access all gates from any security checkpoint.
Security Checkpoints: Keep an eye on the waiting times displayed on monitors and consider switching terminals if needed. Place all items on the belt and use as many tubs as necessary—there are plenty available. An officer is on hand to assist with any questions about items in your hand luggage.
Hand Luggage and Items: Remove the transparent 1-litre resealable plastic bag containing liquids and all electronic items from your hand luggage and place them in the tub. If you have any doubts, such as with electronic toys, photo and film equipment, or drones, consult the officer. Empty your pockets of coins, keys, handkerchiefs, etc., and follow the instructions of the security personnel.
Security Scanning: Proceed to the security scanner if requested. Follow-up inspections may be necessary and will be conducted manually by an aviation security assistant. If your hand luggage needs re-examination, open your bag upon request, but do not reach for your luggage during the inspection. An explosives inspection may also be required.
Check-in and Identity Checks: Arrive at your airline check-in desk at least two hours before departure. Due to increased security measures, identity checks may take longer. Passengers with a cardiac pacemaker should notify personnel before the security check.
Smart Lane Slot Reservation: Book a time slot for the security check to avoid long waiting times. This free service allows you to proceed directly to the Smart Lane checkpoint in Terminal 2, Departures, during your specified time slot. Have your boarding pass ready, as your slot reservation will be automatically checked. This service operates from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Booking Details: Reservations for flights within the Schengen area can be made at least 48 hours to 60 minutes before departure. For non-Schengen flights requiring passport control, the last bookable time slot is 90 minutes before departure. To book a slot, provide your flight number, email address, and name. Reservations can be made for up to 5 people.
Additional Security Checks: The security checks in other terminals are available at all hours. Ensure you allow sufficient time for check-in and baggage drop-off before the security check.
