    Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is France’s largest and busiest international airport, serving as the primary hub for Air France and a major gateway to Europe. Located 26 km (16 miles) northeast of central Paris. The airport features three main terminals (Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3), with Terminal 2 further divided into seven sub-terminals (2A–2G). Whether you’re connecting to another flight, heading into Paris, or exploring France, CDG offers a wide range of amenities, including shopping, dining, lounges, and efficient transport links like the RER B train, TGV, CDGVAL shuttle, taxis, and buses.

    Terminal 2E is divided into three separate buildings:

    • Hall K (Gates K21–K54): This is the main building, where check-in and security are located. You can walk here directly from the duty-free area.
    • Hall L (Gates L21–L53): A satellite building accessible only via the LISA automated train (Stop 1).
    • Hall M (Gates M21–M50): The furthest satellite, accessible only via the LISA automated train (Stop 2).

    Critical Tip: Always check your boarding pass and the airport screens immediately upon arrival.

    No. Due to the airport’s size and highway infrastructure, you cannot walk between the main terminals. Use the CDGVAL, a free automated shuttle train that operates 24/7 and connects all terminals, parking lots, and train stations. The CDGVAL runs every 4 minutes and is the fastest way to transfer between terminals

    Terminal 1 was renovated and reopened in 2023. The new Junction Building links Satellites 1, 2, and 3, creating a single, centralized international boarding hall and security area. This replaces the old system where passengers used tunnels to reach individual satellites. The Junction Building is located on Level 4 and includes a 5,600 sqm boarding hall.

    No. Self-transfers at CDG are highly risky if you have less than 2 hours. You must:

    • Clear French Immigration (enter France).
    • Collect your bags.
    • Clear Customs.
    • Change terminals (often requiring the CDGVAL train).
    • Re-check your bags (check-in counters often close 60 minutes before departure).
    • Clear Emigration and Security again.

    Recommendation: If you’re transferring through a different terminal, allow at least 3 hours to account for queues and potential delays.

    The TGV high-speed train is the fastest option, taking 8–10 minutes from the “Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV” station (located in Terminal 2) to Marne-la-Vallée Chessy (Disneyland’s station). Tickets must be booked in advance. The Magic Shuttle bus is an alternative, taking 45–60 minutes.

    Taxis have a government-mandated flat fare (as of 2025):

    • Right Bank (Rive Droite): €56
    • Left Bank (Rive Gauche): €65

    Safety Warning: Only use the official outdoor taxi line marked “Taxis.” Never accept rides from solicitors inside the terminal.

    The RER B is efficient (30-40 minutes to reach central Paris).

    CDG is located approximately 26 km (16 miles) from central Paris. The journey to the city center typically takes 45–60 minutes. To comfortably explore Paris during a layover, we recommend having at least 6 hours between flights.

    • Terminal 1: 04:00 – 00:00 (midnight)
    • Terminal 2A: 03:30 – 00:30
    • Terminal 2B: Closes overnight (exact hours may vary, but typically similar to 2A)
    • Terminal 2C: 04:00 – 23:00
    • Terminal 2D: 04:30 – 23:30
    • Terminal 2E and 2F: 04:00 – 00:00 (midnight)
    • Terminal 2G: 05:00 – 23:30 Terminal 3: 04:30 – 23:30

    If you need to stay overnight, only passengers with a valid boarding pass can remain in the secure areas.

    Live data: For the majority of the airports we track we use live data from the airport. For the remaining airports we provide an estimate, and we communicate that it’s a best-guess only.

    Search: By airport name, IATA code, city, county, country or region. To save you time, we keep your last visited airports on the front page. If you can’t find an airport, contact us using the contact form and we will look to add it. 

    Current average wait time: The airport’s latest average security, passport control or customs queue wait time. If the airport has multiple queues, we display the average of them. If you want a more granular view that includes wait times for individual queues, take a look at the terminal level wait times. We regularly update each airport’s data,  but make sure you click the “i” icon to check when the last update was made.

    Terminal level wait times: The latest security or customs queue wait time for individual terminals. Click on the terminal to access more information at the terminal level. Please note that this data is not available for all airports. We are working to expand this functionality to as many airports as possible.

    Historical wait times: The typical wait time on different days and times over the past 2 weeks. Click the filter at the top right of the graph to cycle through the days of the week.

    Add a security or customs queue wait time: How was your airport security experience? Contribute to the community by inputting your wait time. This feature is only available for airports where Qsensor does not automatically track data. To add a wait time, simply click the “Add Your Time” button on the airports page and follow the instructions.

    Our sources for wait time data vary and may include air travel data aggregators, federal agencies such as the TSA, CATSA CBP, or information from the airport and its affiliated service providers. For some airports, Qsensor utilises its proprietary queue modelling technology to project wait times. Additionally, we crowdsource data from passengers who have input their wait time using the “Add Your Time” button.

    We regularly check queue times and flight delays for accuracy, however all times are estimates and waiting times and delays may not accurately reflect your experience. It is advisable to arrive at the airport well in advance and follow the recommendations of the airlines and airports.

    There are a wide array of ways that queue data is measured. Including but not limited to looking at how long a passenger takes to get from scanning their boarding pass to exiting the security or customs area. Auditing passengers on how long it took them to pass through security or customs as well as Qsensors’ proprietary system for user added wait times. 

    For airport wait times, we currently support over 110 airports worldwide. Whether it be London Heathrow, Istanbul, or Miami – we have got you covered. More are added all the time.
