Yes. To speed up your journey, consider using the Fast Track service available at Terminals 2A and 2B. This premium service can be accessed through your airline or purchased for about 2500 HUF or roughly 6.6 EUR through the official website. It’s similar to priority boarding and is also available to economy passengers and those flying with low-cost carriers. Families traveling with children under three years old can use this service for free.

While travellers often worry about traveling between separate buildings, Terminal 2A and Terminal 2B are actually just different sides of the exact same building. Terminal 2A is dedicated exclusively to flights within the Schengen Area, while Terminal 2B handles all non-Schengen and long-haul international flights, which require passport control. The two zones are seamlessly connected by a central atrium called the SkyCourt, and walking from one end of the building to the other takes less than 10 minutes.

For flights remaining within the Schengen zone (departing from Terminal 2A), arriving 2 hours prior to departure is usually sufficient. However, if you are flying to a non-Schengen destination (Terminal 2B), you should arrive a minimum of 3 hours early. Extra time is critical due to lengthy passport control queues caused by the implementation of the new European Entry/Exit System (EES), which requires the biometric processing of non-EU citizens.

Budapest Airport does not have transit hotels or dedicated sleeping pods inside the terminal. The terminal is open 24/7, and budget travelers often rest on the armrest-free benches located in the corridor connecting Terminals 2A and 2B. There are no public shower facilities available in the general terminal areas; showers are only accessible if you pay to enter the Plaza Premium Lounges or the LOT Business Lounge.

Yes. The Excess Baggage Company operates a staffed luggage storage facility on the departure level of Terminal 2B, open daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Pricing starts at 2,750 HUF per item for up to 4 hours, and 5,500 HUF for up to 24 hours. If you plan to take the 100E bus to explore the city, there is also an off-site “Universal airportHUB” luggage storage location right at Kálvin tér in the city center.

It is highly recommended to avoid exchanging money at the physical airport kiosks or withdrawing cash from the blue Euronet ATMs located in the arrivals hall, as they frequently utilize aggressive markups and unfavorable exchange rates. Budapest is a highly card-friendly city. If you need physical Hungarian Forints (HUF), wait until you reach the city center and use an ATM attached to a major local bank.

Crucial tip: When paying by card, terminals will often ask if you want to be charged in your home currency or HUF—always select the local currency (HUF) to get your bank’s better wholesale exchange rate.

Yes, the tap water is completely safe. To help travelers avoid paying high prices for bottled water, the airport has installed 13 dedicated drinking water fountains located throughout the post-security transit areas. Passengers are encouraged to bring an empty reusable bottle through security to fill up before their flights.

Live data: For the majority of the airports we track we use live data from the airport. For the remaining airports we provide an estimate, and we communicate that it’s a best-guess only.

Search: By airport name, IATA code, city, county, country or region. To save you time, we keep your last visited airports on the front page. If you can’t find an airport, contact us using the contact form and we will look to add it. 

Current average wait time: The airport’s latest average security, passport control or customs queue wait time. If the airport has multiple queues, we display the average of them. If you want a more granular view that includes wait times for individual queues, take a look at the terminal level wait times. We regularly update each airport’s data,  but make sure you click the “i” icon to check when the last update was made.

Terminal level wait times: The latest security or customs queue wait time for individual terminals. Click on the terminal to access more information at the terminal level. Please note that this data is not available for all airports. We are working to expand this functionality to as many airports as possible.

Historical wait times: The typical wait time on different days and times over the past 2 weeks. Click the filter at the top right of the graph to cycle through the days of the week.

Add a security or customs queue wait time: How was your airport security experience? Contribute to the community by inputting your wait time. This feature is only available for airports where Qsensor does not automatically track data. Our sources for wait time data vary and may include air travel data aggregators, federal agencies such as the TSA, CATSA CBP, or information from the airport and its affiliated service providers. For some airports, Qsensor utilises its proprietary queue modelling technology to project wait times. Additionally, we crowdsource data from passengers that have inputted their wait time using the “Add Wait Time” button.

We regularly check queue times and flight delays for accuracy, however all times are estimates and waiting times and delays may not accurately reflect your experience. It is advisable to arrive at the airport well in advance and follow the recommendations of the airlines and airports.

There are a wide array of ways that queue data is measured. Including but not limited to looking at how long a passenger takes to get from scanning their boarding pass to exiting the security or customs area. Auditing passengers on how long it took them to pass through security or customs as well as Qsensors’ proprietary system for user added wait times.
