Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport serves as the primary introduction to the elegant region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, conveniently located just 13 kilometers from the city center. The airport is smartly divided into three distinct sectors to streamline travel: Hall A handles the majority of international and domestic flights, Hall B is primarily dedicated to Air France, and the separate “billi” terminal is designed exclusively for low-cost carriers. Befitting its location, the airport embraces its regional heritage, offering travellers a chance to sample and purchase local gastronomy—from famous Bordeaux wines to traditional canelés pastries—right in the terminals before takeoff. With modern infrastructure updates like the direct Tram Line F connection to the Saint-Jean train station, Bordeaux Airport offers a seamless blend of modern transit convenience and a relaxed southern French atmosphere.

The most popular and cost-effective option is the Tram Line F, which runs directly from the airport to the Bordeaux Saint-Jean train station, passing through the city center (Hôtel de Ville). It takes about 35-45 minutes and a single ticket costs €1.70-€1.90. Alternatively, the 30’Direct shuttle bus offers a direct, 30-minute trip to the train station for €8-€9, complete with guaranteed seating and luggage assistance. Taxis are also available 24/7 outside Hall A, typically costing between €35 and €55 depending on the time of day.

The billi terminal is a separate facility built exclusively for low-cost airlines like easyJet and Volotea. It is not located inside the main Hall A/B building; instead, it is a 7 to 12-minute walk outside the main complex following the pedestrian signs. Amenities are extremely limited past security in the billi terminal, so it is highly recommended to eat and use the restroom in Hall A before walking over.

Solid foods like canelés, macarons, hard cheeses, and chocolate are perfectly fine to bring through security. However, soft or runny cheeses (like Camembert), pâté, and the region’s famous foie gras are strictly classified as pastes or gels by airport security. If these items are packed in containers larger than 100g or 100ml, they will be confiscated. To bring these regional delicacies home safely, either pack them securely in your checked luggage or purchase them after security at the airside duty-free shops.

You cannot sleep inside Bordeaux Airport overnight. The terminals strictly close to the public between midnight (or 11:30 PM depending on the last flight) and 4:00 AM. Security personnel will ask anyone inside to leave the premises during these hours. If you have a 6:00 AM flight, you should book a nearby airport hotel or arrange a taxi/Uber for a pre-dawn drop-off.

There are no direct train lines departing from the airport itself. To get to Arcachon efficiently without going into the city centre, you can take the local Line 39 bus to the Gare de Pessac Alouette train station, and then catch a direct regional train to the coast. To reach Saint-Émilion, you must first take Tram Line F or the 30’Direct shuttle to the main Bordeaux Saint-Jean train station, where you can connect to a regional TER train heading to the wine village.

The Express Parking (P Express) lot is located directly across from Halls A, B, and the billi terminal, offering 10 minutes of free parking for quick passenger drop-offs and pick-ups. However, be aware of the airport’s strict penalty system: vehicles are only permitted to enter this zone three times within a 24-hour period. If you enter for a fourth time, an automatic €10 penalty fee is added to your parking cost.

Live data: For the majority of the airports we track we use live data from the airport. For the remaining airports we provide a modelled projection, combined with crowdsourced data.

Current average wait time: The airport’s latest average security, passport control or customs queue wait time. If the airport has multiple queues, we display the average of them. If you want a more granular view that includes wait times for individual queues, take a look at the terminal level wait times. We regularly update each airport’s data,  but make sure you click the “i” icon to check when the last update was made.

Terminal level wait times: The latest security or customs queue wait time for individual terminals. Click on the terminal to access more information at the terminal level. Please note that this data is not available for all airports. We are working to expand this functionality to as many airports as possible.

Historical wait times: The typical wait time on different days and times over the past 2 weeks. Click the filter at the top right of the graph to cycle through the days of the week.

For some airports, Qsensor utilises its proprietary queue modelling technology to project wait times. Additionally, we crowdsource data from passengers who have input their wait time using the “Add Your Time” button.

We regularly check queue times and flight delays for accuracy, however all times are estimates and waiting times and delays may not accurately reflect your experience. It is advisable to arrive at the airport well in advance and follow the recommendations of the airlines and airports.

Including but not limited to looking at how long a passenger takes to get from scanning their boarding pass to exiting the security or customs area. Auditing passengers on how long it took them to pass through security or customs as well as Qsensors’ proprietary system for user added wait times.
